Strategic Corridors for Gas Transmission Pipelines

On 26 February 2021 Minister Barbara Dallas Creecy, published in Government Notice No. 143 in Government Gazette No. 44191 which identified strategic corridors important for the development of gas transmission pipelines. 

On 7 May 2021, the Minster published in Government Notice No. 411 in Government Gazette No. 44551, procedures to be followed when applying for gas transmission pipelines within strategic gas corridors which included the use of a Generic Environmental Management Programme (EMPr). The Generic EMPr was published on the 23 April 2021, in Government Notice No. 373 in Government Gazette No. 44481. 

The strategic corridors and the Environmental attributes associated with the corridors were determined through the specialist assessments prepared as part of a strategic environmental assessment process. The generic EMPr was also developed through this process.
